A Franciscan Benediction

I figure if I am lacking the time necessary to write my own blogs I may as well steal writings from people far more intelligent than I that have blessed me... In hopes that these words may bless you as well.

May God bless you with discomfort
At easy answers, half-truths, and superficial relationships
So that you may live deep within your heart.

May God bless you with anger
At injustice, oppression, and exploitation of people,
So that you may work for justice, freedom and peace.

May God bless you with tears
To shed for those who suffer pain, rejection, hunger and war,
So that you may reach out your hand to comfort them and to turn their pain into joy.

And may God bless you with enough foolishness
To believe that you can make a difference in the wrodl,
So that you can do what others claim cannot be done
To bring justice and kindness to all our children and the poor.

Amen.

I love it! Where did you come across this benediction? I have been trying to find a book of such prayers and blessings, but have been unable to find one yet.

I was actually writing a paper on prayer and in one of the books I was using as a research aid used this as an example in one of the chapters.
